Directed by God
During the month of May 2022, my husband Gideon and I were able to visit the brothers and sister in Cape Town, South Africa. There we were able to help support the Cuddle Trust and the Ignite and Shine programs. God’s direction was strongly felt both planning this trip and while we were there.
We met Brother Hendri and Sister Liezel Viljoen, who live in the Cape Town area, online during our Faith Launch 1 discussion group in 2021. Liezel and Hendri introduced us to the Christadelphian organization Cuddle Trust, as well as their extended family who run many of the programs in South Africa. We started to plan our trip shortly after that. We were delayed due to COVID and almost did not go, but thankfully, due to God’s guidance, we finally made it out that way last month.
While we were there, we enjoyed being able to help with the various ongoing programs such as Cuddle Trust and Ignite and Shine Run, many of which the P2P group helped support back in January. We helped run Bible Clubs in the local communities as well as the Christadelphian youth in Cape Town. We continued work on the Sunflower Nursery School in Green Village, doing maintenance work and helping run school activities. We were also able to lead a leadership workshop at the local high school. We participated in a Clean up for Christ and helped support the different feeding schemes that the Cuddle Trust runs. We learned a lot from the variety of programs that we were able to work on and personally grew a lot from them.
Getting to know the brothers and sisters in the Cape Town ecclesias was a highlight for both of us. All of the families that hosted us were incredible and we loved being able to meet so many brothers and sisters in Christ by helping support bible classes, sisters classes, memorial services, and praise and worship afternoons! We were very inspired by the serving spirit of so many of the brothers and sisters there. To be able to serve alongside them as we await our Savior’s return was a very precious time for us that we will not forget.
