WCF Service Activities Overview
WCF has funded ongoing and one-time service/pastoral projects around the world, specifically in the countries of South Africa, Kenya, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, New Zealand, Australia, Jamaica, Canada and the United States. WCF-sponsored White Field fieldworkers are involved in several of these projects. You can read their first-hand reports and blogs by clicking here.
“Serving the Community” projects include feeding programs (e.g., nutrition drink for neighborhood kids, meals for the unemployed, food distribution to needy schools and orphanages), building efforts (e.g., new community center, upgrade a creche, fix a dwelling) and practical teaching (e.g., day-care teacher training, cooking classes, basic computer usage). You can check out the various areas by clicking here.
Example 1 – Johannesburg, SA – bulk packages purchased with Meal-a-Day money are broken down into parcels (in this photo, by “homework club” kids) for delivery:
Example 2 – Clermont township, South Africa – new community center constructed and opened in 2013
Example 3 – Lamontville, SA – Cooking class
“Serving the Brotherhood” projects include pastoral work (e.g., visit the widows & shut-ins, instruct the youth, refresh the believers), welfare (e.g., housing, medicine, medical treatment) and practical teaching (e.g., life-skills, workshops, Bible study). Here are some illustrations:
Example 1 – Jamaica – visit aged church members
Example 2 – Pretoria, SA – pay apartment rent for Congolese refugees (photo taken in apt stairwell)
Example 3 – Jamaica – workshop for brethren
The Williamsburg Christadelphian Foundation coordinates, promotes, and cosponsors Bible-based seminars designed to enrich the Brotherhood and proclaim the Truth. You’re invited to contact the presenters to set up your own customized workshop.
Audio CD Library
The initial service of the Foundation was an audio cassette library. Over the last 30 years, this collection has grown to include thousands of titles encompassing Bible exposition, exhortation and lectures.
Some time during late autumn or winter of 2010, WCF planned to begin offering our audio recordings for download, free of charge, through a new area on this website. Recent recordings currently on CD will be the first to become available, followed by older recordings currently stored on cassette tape. However, it turns out that other such services are being provided by other Christadelphian organizations, and this project was put on hold.
A History of Service
Since 1976, the Foundation has provided services and resources beyond the usual scope provided by Christadelphian ecclesias (churches). The earliest offering was affordable audio cassettes of Bible School speakers; this service evolved into audio CDs (including music), video tapes of “God’s Family Around the World”, and pastoral DVDs. A second early offering was financially-assisted seminars and workshops designed for small ecclesias that wanted more than just Bible-School talks.
The directors merged the activities of Charity (welfare) with the activities of Service around 1995, the same time when the Preaching activity expanded beyond North America.
Around 2005, WCF began to promote books and literature via a WCF store, to supplement the audio and video library. DVDs could be downloaded from the WCF website
There was also a big push of a White Fields program that funded overseas field workers to assist in the various pastoral programs in Ukraine, India, Cambodia, South Africa, and Jamaica. More recent countries include Turkey (Iranian refugees), Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia.
