In 2013 we were privileged to get to know the gogo’s (grandmothers) in Tembisa a whole lot better. Being a youngster it did get challenging at times to try and slow down the pace, but in the end, the ladies and I got some great things done. We would meet on Tuesday mornings to do some physical exercise (GoGo Gym as some may have read about before) and then on Wednesday mornings we meet for SNUGGLES, where each of the ladies receive between 20 and 25 knitted squares which they then knit together and make blankets, we also have a sisters class on these mornings to learn and teach more about the Bible.
Our SNUGGLES project has been a great success and we are so blessed to have many ladies knit squares and send them our way, the GoGo’s here love receiving their squares and making their blankets. They have recently completed over 30 blankets which they donated to an orphanage.
It is lovely to see the gogo’s (most of them widows) make their blankets and willingly give them away free of charge to the orphanages to children who really do need blankets and also lots of love.
