Going on a game drive in one of our Game reserves may sound like a touristy thing to do. However our gogo’s here in Tembisa (Only 2 hours from the game park) have never been on a game drive. In the late months of 2013, we gave them the opportunity to be part of one of these exciting events. We picked up 6 of the ladies at Tembisa early in the morning to get to the park whilst the animals would be having their morning drink at the water holes.
We were very blessed to see 3 of the Big 5; that however wasn’t the highlight of the day. We had asked the ladies what animal they would really love to see and Mama Annah proclaimed : ” Baboons!!” In all the times I have been on a game drive, that would be the least exciting thing to see. She did get to see them though. Near the end of the drive, a whole troop of baboons came running down the hill to the dam wall and they were playing with each other on the wall.
We had a fun and exhausting day looking for animals, getting out at hides and viewing animals from outside. We even had a close encounter with an elephant. We stopped and had lunch at one of the hides. As we were sitting there. we saw some lions in the bushes across from the pond. Below are some snapshots of our blessed day.
