In December 2013 we had our annual Youth camp. It was held at camp Altelekker (which means: All too nice). We had a good turnout of children coming from 4 different meetings here in Gauteng.
We had a group of 5 Australian volunteers here who helped run the classes; they also helped raise some funds to sponsor more children to attend the camp. Most of the children on the camp couldn’t afford to pay the full price of the camp so we had to find funds elsewhere. We now have a couple of people sending us some money to sponsor children for our next camp in December 2014 which will be held at a different venue that works out to be more cost effective.
The children learnt leadership skills, how to work together to achieve a goal, Baptism, Miracles and Parables in the Bible. They enjoyed the swimming pool and also played a soccer match against another church group that had their camp at the same location.
They also had a chance to show off their acting skills as we had a talent show at the end of the week. They all performed a skit which had to portray something they learnt that week. We then had a free-for-all and had children singing, dancing, beat boxing, saying poems and just having lots of fun.
