Saturday Bible Club
We have a lovely ‘core group’ of about 45 kids who regularly attend the bi-weekly Saturday Bible Club lessons. Due to the large variation in ages (we have kids from age 3 to kids age 18) we have felt the need to have the younger kids in a separate class – which Leona Scheepers has volunteered to take. We are very grateful for her help as this means we can get into ‘meatier’ work with the older kids, even though many of them do not know that Genesis is the first book of the Bible! The Bible Club has been great way for visiting volunteers to get involved and the kids enjoy the different teaching styles, as well as meeting people from different countries with strange accents!

The younger class did origami arks and a colored rainbow.
Herding balloon “animals” into the ark.
We hosted our first “games evening” at the centre, and it proved a great success. The kids really enjoyed playing their old favorites such as musical chairs and huddles, as well as some new games such as “bible bingo”. We also played “True vs False” – with the statements relating to previous bible club lessons, and it was great to see that they remembered many of the stories and lessons we have shared this year.

Bible Bingo – even the younger kids enjoyed it!
Not too sure whether to join the “true” side or stick with the “false” side!
Michael’s one student is making quick progress on the piano – no doubt due to the plentiful individual attention he is receiving! However the work done with regards to preparing the manuals and so on is not wasted as they are also used for similar lessons at Aphiwe, as well as being ‘timeless’ in that they can be used for future students without needing to be adapted.

Exotic Animal Show
The kids were treated to an exotic animal show – where they were able to experience such unusual animals as hedgehogs, bearded dragons, snakes & chameleons. The focus of the event was very much educating the children as to the care that such animals and animals in general require, as well as exposing them to the beauty that exists in creation and our responsibility toward caring for our earth and animals.

Peace was brave enough to hold a dragon.

The famous “creche crash course” has kicked off at Tswelopele! We have 23 lovely women – from recently matriculated students to established preschool principals – attending, and have already received feedback along the lines of their appreciation of the information we are sharing, as well as how much they are enjoying the very practical approach the course takes. Leona & I are jointly presenting the course – a first for me – but I am enjoying being able to share some of my Montessori teaching ideas and experiences. The general knowledge of these teachers is incredibly limited – when asked how many legs an ant has the majority vote was “4”!
The Greatest Gift
Michael & I were blessed with a perfect, beautiful, healthy baby girl on the 6th October. We praise God for this little blessing! Her name is Zanté.
With love in Christ
