Further Descriptions/Photos of Mt Pleasant Brethren
The following is carryover from the (Jan-Mar 2011) report.
Sis Rose is a great help in Mt Pleasant. She is very enthusiastic and has prepared the mid-week Bible class a couple of time. Rose takes care of her mother, who is bed-ridden. She lives far enough from the ecclesia that she can only get there when there is transportation.
Bro Kimroy is newly baptized. He just turned 16 but has been attending Sunday school faithfully for the 10 years that Andrew and Delona have been there. He is comfortable giving prayers and presiding, but has not yet written an exhortation. It has been helpful for him to have Bulky there to help him along. It would be a bit more difficult for him to see Tom doing these things and believe that he can do them. He and Bulky get along fine and Kimroy has just figured out how he can get home early enough on a Friday to go with us to Round Hill for CYC. He generally gets home around 6 and that is the time that we leave, so he has to hustle.
Hertha is Kimroy’s mother. Grace is his older sister. She has two young sons who have started coming to Sunday school. Cecilyne lives next door to the Allens. She is able to get to the hall only if there is transportation. She is about 75 I think. Lisa is 21 and lives as far away as Rose, but in the opposite direction. She generally walks to meeting or class and we drive her home.
Grace and her boys
The first week that I had Sunday school Grace’s two sons came – Ramnaresh is 4 and Shaquan Is 7. The second week Grace had invited a friend of Shaquan’s. Deroni is 8 and his brother Dillon is 9. So the Sunday school is growing. Delona had been teaching Sunday school until Ayden came along. She found it difficult to manage it with a baby. She will be having her friend in England send me materials and books for the 4 students.
Ramnaresh and Deroni
We have been rotating the preparation for the mid-week Bible class. Tom, Kimroy, Rose and I select the topics and start the discussion. Letisha’s mom, Sonia, has been coming to class if Letisha gets home from school in time to take over looking after Chloe, who just turned one.
Overseas Visitors/Fun week for children
Sister Letisha Blair and I were happy to welcome Sister Doreen Greene from California and Sister Jackie Webb from England. Letisha made the story of Noah real to the children, Doreen taught several new songs and Jackie had many crafty ideas to share. The day would not have been complete without snacks and activities. “Hurricane” was a hit, but the highlight of the week was “water day”. The children were very pleased that the sisters all came ready to engage in throwing water balloons and get drenched with buckets of water.
Our sisters provided a fun week for the children in Mt Pleasant and were able to share materials with children in White Horses and Broughton. We thank our sisters for their visit, the encouragement they provided and the sweet fellowship.
