We have just experienced a very encouraging time attending the annual Cambodian Study Week featuring three new births!
Brother Vanna and Sister Kunthi were baptised at a local beach joining us in our journey towards God’s Kingdom, while local Brother Savy and Sister Tung were blessed with the birth of a baby son.
The baptisms were just another reminder of what a fruitful area for the preaching of the Gospel Cambodia is, and we would encourage field-workers old and new to assist the Ecclesia’s here and encourage them in their spiritual growth.
The Study Week, led by Bro. Matthew Bradley from Sydney Australia on the theme of “Spiritual Life & Participation” was attended by Brothers and Sisters and young people from all over Cambodia, some of whom live in isolated regions.
Bro. Matt developed his theme following the lives of five brothers who demonstrated great faith in their lives (Caleb, Boaz, Mordecai, Philip and Barnabas).
The studies which were translated into Khmer, were enthusiastically received and the audience readily participated in reading and singing. There was a lot of discussion that took place as well and the benefit of the week was there to see on the happy faces. (See the attached photo).
The attendance at the studies by interested friends also showed that the efforts of the local fieldworkers are generating an interest in our beliefs in the Sihanoukville region.
The week also provided opportunity for swimming and other sports such as beach soccer, as well as a leaflet handout to advertise the BEC2 (Sihanoukville) Bible and English lessons. (Not surprisingly this has already generated a response!).
We should also give credit to the way the whole week was organised by Bro. Sophorn and Sis. Srey Po from the local Ecclesia and also the effort put in by the cooks in providing “yummy” food. (Bon the cook from BEC1 even travelled down to assist for the week and her assistance was very much appreciated.)
Thanks also to the local fieldworkers Bro. Rob and Sister Rochelle Oosthuizen and their family who temporarily relocated to allow the visitors to take over the accommodation at the BEC.
All in all it was a wonderful week of Bible study and fellowship which will provide a lasting benefit to all those who attended.
Planning is already underway for next year’s Bible Week (God Willing) and we would encourage your support and prayers for God’s continued evident blessings on this and the many other activities taking place in this fruitful corner of His Vineyard.
