WCF REPORT – AUGUST 2010
The work continues to expand, seemingly on a weekly basis! Clermont is developing into a major project. Others will report on the work there. My own contributions have mainly been based on teaching at the Durban BEC and leading a variety of classes on Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings, plus Saturday and Sunday classes.
Bro. Ben has started a new God’s Master Plan class on Saturday mornings, and I have been developing an Advanced GMP course for those who have completed GMP. The first hour involves getting members to develop their abilities in explaining Scriptures to each other, and the second session revolves around “New Life in Christ” issues.
TRANSFER TO THE JOHANNESBURG AREA
For the last year and more, I have been considering transferring to Johannesburg, particularly to assist the Soweto and Yeoville ecclesias. I have only held back because I have enjoyed working in the Durban area.
I know both Soweto and Yeoville ecclesias well. I work in both when in the area for travel purposes, and by invitation. In 2007, I was a member of Yeoville for a while, and I shall resume membership there. COPT members support the transfer. There are three main reasons for this move:
1. Neither Soweto nor Yeoville has any P2P presence. Both ecclesias do good work, but they have never been directly involved with WCF or even COPT on a regular basis.
2. Both ecclesias are “thin on the ground” when it comes to having experienced members. With at least 18 young brethren having been baptized in the last three years, both need experienced teaching support.
Bro. Anthony Oosthuizen, (Durban), led the first GMP seminar in Soweto last Saturday. It was attended by over 30 friends. God willing, I am due to lead the second one on the 4th September. Locally, only Bro. Paul Verster, whose health is not good, has the experience to lead such classes.
3. Bro. Martin Munyangi, who has done sterling work at the Yeoville BEC, leaves this post in December. I plan to work there part – time, as the BEC has been a fruitful source of baptisms.

A Seminar in Soweto
I shall be helping in Johannesburg during the next two weeks, and move there the week after the Family Conference. During conference, I shall stay in Durban to run the Sunday seminar, and work in the Durban BEC, as Mary, Kwanda, Cam and Barry will all be at the conference. I have been passing over my local classes to the Durban P2P Team.
Although I shall not be working directly with Bro. Lucas and his team, we plan to meet regularly to share ideas and review the work. I am looking forward to those meetings. Hopefully, my transfer will strengthen our WCF and COPT presence in the Johannesburg area.
With love in Jesus,
