The Adieu progress-and-development Center has been a hive of activity since we “opened our doors early in March. The name for the Center was specifically chosen to convey the idea of what the word means in French. “Adieu” is a way of saying “God’s speed” or “may God be with you” This is exactly our wishes for the many volunteers that have already and will in the future visit us. While they are at Adieu they get fully integrated in the preaching and outreach work we do and we thus wish them God’s speed every day when they leave the Center to do their work, as well as when they sadly leave to go back to their home countries.
The past six months have indeed shown that the Center brings progress and development as it doubles up as an accommodation and conference facility. Since March we have already had 44 volunteers staying at Adieu at different times. The ODFL charity group from San Francisco stayed over in June/July and pushed the number of people that Adieu could facilitate to 20 – which we now know is our maximum!
Currently we have a group of 10 volunteers who make up our P2P (Prepared to Preach) team and they are doing amazing work. They come from the UK, Canada, Australia and the USA. They are amazingly resourceful and making a huge impact on the community as well as those who are keen to hear the Gospel further expounded to them. It is also a huge benefit for our ecclesias in Kempton Park, Aphiwe and Pretoria to have these brothers and sister minister to them.
We were particularly thankful for a one day leadership seminar that was held for the youth at Aphiwe. The facility gears itself well to having groups that can break away into smaller group sessions. We are looking forward to the future, should Christ not return, as the need for training, pastoral care and sustainable preaching and outreach work can now be met more readily.
Your brother and sister in Christ’s service,
Lucas and Leona
