“Chance” Survey Responses, Q2
The second question in our survey was “Did this series on Time and Chance change your thinking on the issue?” Twenty-seven percent of the respondents said “yes” while 50.6 said “no.” Another 19.7% said “I don't know/Still thinking about it.”
The comments were as follows:
- It solidified thoughts that I already had…and gave scriptural evidence for belief in God's hand at work in all things, rather than chance.
- EXPOSES ME TO MANY THINGS ABOUT TIME, HOW TO MAKE GOOD OF MY TIME
- It made me think about it more and give even more glory to our Creator.
- .. but the thoughts were insightful….
- No need to
- Because I agreed with you!
- No, but it helped expand my thinking
- I pretty much thought this way already, but this solidified it.
- The key to 'all things..' is the 2nd part- for those that love Him, they will grow towards glory in their response- even if happened by chance
- I haven't seen anything Biblical which contradicts the idea that God created the universe to mostly run on its own.
- Made me more conscious of the simple moments.
- only confirmed my thinking
- Agree with the line of thought however it does not appear to be balanced to a sufficient degree with man's free will.
- I just cannot believe that if I hit my hand with a hammer; that it was "God's plan"…. [KT note: That would be free will UNLESS somehow God distracted you or made you “hiccup” mid-swing, or designed you as less coordinated, etc. etc. As I said, that is the “confluence” enigma.]
- I was unsure how chance in the Proverbs passage related to us. Believing that God is in control of all things doesn't leave much room for chance.
- I hadn't considered many of the Bible passages raised in the series relative to the subject.
- I don't believe that he was involved in my misspelling involved and then having to hit delete and retype the word. [KT note: see note three comments above.]
