Dear Friends,

I have often said that the best exhortations more times than not come from the audience side of the platform. Brethren and sisters perform amazing acts of kindness, courage and love which lift us up and strengthen us in our time of need. This past week, I witnessed an amazing exhortation which was captured on video in the simple act of a young brother singing a song. The act was so powerful that I wanted to share it with you without delay.

On August 23, 2007, Brother Grant Anderson of the Milford Road Christadelphian ecclesia in Michigan rear-ended a truck in a long line of vehicles waiting to enter the US in Sarnia, Ontario. It took emergency response personnel an hour to pull Grant from the wreckage as they needed a tow truck to lift the trailer off his truck. By God’s grace, an off-duty doctor and a nurse happened upon the scene and provided life- saving medical attention. He sustained such severe head trauma that the doctors did not think he would survive. His sister Hannah wrote when this occurred, “The doctors don’t think that he is going to make it, so we need all the help that we can get to keep the prayers going so that we can have a miracle.”

They got their miracle. Although Grant still has a long way to go, the miracle was demonstrated at the Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith Gathering in Granville, Ohio on Saturday, July 26, 2008 – less than one year after Grant’s near-fatal accident – as Grant stood with the support of his mother and sung to those gathered. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as he sang.

Praise be to God and Christ to whom Grant was singing when he said “You Raise Me Up.”

Thanks, Grant, for inspiring us all!

Have a great week,
