Dear Friends

The following was sent to me this past week by Sis. Kim Carlson. It was so succinct and powerful, I thought I would pass it on. It highlights very effectively a life centered on self versus a life centered on God.

Myself: Self-Confident My God: For the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught. Prov. 3:26

Myself: Self-Dependent My God: Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God. 2Cor. 3:5

Myself: Self-Promotion My God: Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth, Matt. 5:5. Rather than elevating self, Christ tells us to esteem others first.

Myself: Self-Acceptance My God: Excusing self by saying, “Well, that is just the way I am.” Eph. 5:1 tells me to be an imitator of God.

Myself: Self-Defense My God: But if when you do what is right and suffer for it and patiently endure it , this finds favor with God. 1Peter 2:20

Myself: Self-Preservation My God: The psalmist said that the Lord was his rock and redeemer, his refuge and shield, his defender and his deliverer. Psa. 19:14, 119:114. 6:4, 17:13.

Myself: Self-Esteem My God: Esteem others as better than (more important) than self. Phil 17:13

Myself: Self-Help My God: My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. Pas. 121:2, 46:1, 94:17

Myself: Self-Discipline My God: Those whom the Lord loves, he disciplines. Heb. 12:6

Have a great week,

P.S. Many requests have been made to print the TFTW in book form. Since this has been a community effort, I would like to make this book a community effort as well. If there is any particular TFTW that has touched you or that you would like to write a preface for, please contact Kyle Tucker. We will include some of these comments in the book, Lord willing.
