WDJD

Dear Friends:
About 8 years ago, a very popular thing to do was to wear a WWJD bracelet. WWJD stood for “what would Jesus do?” It was a very nice sentiment aimed primarily at young people. When they were faced with one of life’s decisions, they were to ask themselves “What would Jesus do?” However, as nice as this sentiment is, a possibly better question we need to ask ourselves is WDJD….What DID Jesus do?
“What would Jesus do?” seems to imply that you are going along through life, doing your own thing so to speak, and when confronted with a difficult decision, you need to ask yourself what the Lord would do in this situation. WDJD has a different starting point. Instead of stopping at life’s difficult decisions to ask what Jesus would do, pattern your life after the things that Jesus did. Make living like Jesus your starting point, not just frequent stops along the way.
WDJD – What did Jesus do?
Jesus preached the Gospel. We should preach the Gospel.
Jesus always did his Fathers will. We should always do God’s will.
Jesus was hated by many people because he stood up for what was right against popular opinion. We should stand up for what is right despite popular opinion.
Jesus served his brethren by working tirelessly and selflessly on their behalf. We should work tirelessly and selflessly for our brethren and our Lord.
Jesus was crucified. While we are not asked to literally be nailed to a cross, we are asked to take up our cross and crucify our flesh.
Jesus knew his Bible and could quote Scriptures to teach others or in his time of trials and temptation. We should do the same.
Jesus made the Kingdom of God and his Father’s righteousness his first priority. We should seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness.
Jesus was not prejudiced against anyone, but associated with people of all walks of life giving them comfort and insight into the word of God.
Jesus loved us enough to give his life for us. We should love each other and put their interests ahead of our own.
“I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.” (John 13:15 NASB)
Have a great week!
