Happiness is…
November 26, 2000
Dear Friends:
When I was a little boy, I had a book called “Happiness is a Warm Puppy” by Charles Schultz, creator of the Peanuts comic strip. I don’t remember too much about it, but it was about all of the things that make you happy.
Jesus put together a happiness list in what has been called the Beatitudes portion of the Sermon on the Mount. When Jesus says “blessed are the…”, he is saying “happy are the…”
For this week’s thought, I have put together a “happiness is” list for those who have taken on the saving name of Jesus Christ.
Happiness in Christ is knowing that my redeemer lives and sits at the right hand of God.
Happiness in Christ is being forgiven.
Happiness in Christ is knowing the Hope of Israel and that my name is written in the Book of Life by the tremendous grace and mercy of a living God.
Happiness in Christ is the understanding that I have a family that cares for me and extends across face of the earth.
Happiness in Christ is the doctrine of salvation by grace because I know that of the strength of my own hand I can do nothing.
Happiness in Christ is the great comfort that comes from the fact that God is in control of this crazy world and that nothing can or will happen without his Divine approval.
Happiness in Christ is knowing that living a life in keeping with God’s will is better than living an immoral life despite all that mankind would have you believe.
Happiness in Christ is the Lord Jesus Christ returning triumphant to the earth, doing away with all that is evil and corrupt and reigning in righteousness.
Happiness in Christ is the realization that I have believing friends who will always be there for me.
Happiness in Christ is knowing that man is not here on earth by chance where only the fittest survive, but that man has a higher purpose and meaning to his life.
Happiness in Christ is being able to share with other people the things that Jesus Christ has done for me in hope that they too will avail themselves of the one “name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Have a happy week!
