White Fields Reports - June 2009 Lucas & Leona Scheepers - South Africa
KMPBEC activities slowed down the last month as we enter our two coldest months in the year. We have experienced this cycle for the past two years now. Temperatures get very low during June and July and people tend to go into “hibernation” mode. Although less people visit the BEC we still enrol 3 students on average per day. The lunch time Bible classes have been postponed for the month of July but in August we will pick up again with the classes as well as a “walk through the Bible” seminar to be held over three consecutive Saturdays. There has been a demand from students who finished the Bible courses to have a seminar to get to understand the Bible more clearly in detail. Christy Beyers - South Africa
I would like to start by saying I feel really blessed and honoured that I have been given such an awesome opportunity this year. It has had its ups and downs, but through it all I feel that God has shaped me and moulded me through the different situations. Something that keeps coming up in my life is Prov 3:5-6 and every time God teaches it to me, he shows me a deeper meaning of depending on him and him alone. David White - South Africa
My work four days a week teaching at the Durban BEC is bearing fruit. Three students I have been teaching there have applied for baptism - Crispin, David and Phuno, plus Paul, a former student who now attends the Durban ecclesia regularly. The value of personal teaching is evident. Altough friends complete courses and frequently answer questions correctly, they rarely are able to articulate what they have studied in a holistic way. They have pieces of the puzzle, but how they fit together needs explanation. Often their eyes light up when they understand how the Scriptures fit together. It is a continuing pleasure to work with such students and God be praised for their desire to be baptised. It also illustrates the value of continuity in teaching. |
