Our thanks are to God that April was baptized on 11th Oct 2005 in Kailua, on Oahu.

April and her husband Mike moved to California when Mike, who served many years in the US military, was stationed in Monterey.

April Chen undertook the Gospel of Peace study classes in California. The studies were conducted from July 2004 to January 2005 in the “Plumes” coffee-shop on Alvarado street in downtown Monterey; and took place on Thursday evenings, in English (April’s second language) after she had already put in a full day either in college or teacher training. April is bilingual in English and Chinese and is now trained to teach Chinese to English-speaking students.

April and Mike then moved to the Hawaiian island of Oahu early in 2005, again as a consequence of Mike’s military posting.

On the day of the baptism Bro. Mike Szabo, the only resident brother in Hawaii, gave a short address at the beach (top photo) and then April was baptized in the Pacific Ocean (middle photo). We all enjoyed lunch and a breaking of bread at Sis. Connie Wiedeman’s apartment afterwards (bottom photo). Sis. Connie continues to struggle against attacks from cancer and remains in need of our prayers to the Father. Since that time Sis April has greatly enjoyed receiving the many well wishes and blessings from the brethren. She sends her appreciation to all!

Sis April will join in fellowship with the brethren on the island of Oahu (the ‘main island’): Bro. Mike; Sis Fiona; Sis. Connie and Sis. Anna. We pray God’s blessing on their fellowship: may it grow and strengthen to the glory of the Almighty Father, as we await His coming Kingdom at the return of His Son.
