News Just to give you a little feedback on Project Parramatta. We had 43 enrollments in Project Parramatta of which 28 showed up on the first night and 5 sent inabilities for the first night but will attend the remainder of the course. We will follow up those who did not attend by sending a letter inviting them to come to the second night. The first night went very well and we seem to have a good group with virtually no language problems (which is usually an issue). The group is interested and engaged which is good. In addition we had approximately 15-20 Christadelphian attendees from a variety of ecclesias (more attended the seminars than initially expressed interest which was good). I had several positive comments from Christadelphians attending about how inspiring the seminars are for their personal convictions which is great. The site we have hired is excellent for the purpose and we have two rooms with approximately 25 people in each room and an ample foyer for supper. We are happy with the response to the seminars and excited about continuing with the series. In addition to spreading the gospel, two other goals we had were to excite more Christadelphians through the seminars and to get ecclesias working together. These goals are also being met as we have greater than expected attendance and contributions from 8 ecclesias, including both people and funds. Also, this year is the first year that we utilized our website bibleseminars.org.au for enrollments for all of the NSW seminars. We expected that it may not have been heavily utilized (given the profile of people who normally attend our seminars) but have been surprised that 46 of the 98 enrollments (for NSW as a whole) went through the website. This is encouraging and we will continue to build online content. (presently the site is for enrollments only). We have also had a few queries about seminar DVDs and online courses. We will be developing the former over the June long weekend in Sydney and we are looking at other Christadelphian sites which might be appropriate for the latter. As you know we established Go And Preach (GNP) Inc. to facilitate this project. We are already in discussions with a Christadelphian student on how we can support him (and others) in running seminars on university campuses this year. There are many untapped opportunities for seminars in geographic segments but also around language/easy english, gender (e.g. seminars for women) and age segments (for kids, aged homes etc). I hope we can encourage participation on these and other projects over the next year or two. Yours in Christ, Bro Ric Steel |
