Just before it started to warm up (not that it really gets too cold here) we started prepping the ground for vegetables at Lamontville and at Mariannhill. Due to space constraints at Mariannhill, we built a raised garden for vegetables. The garden at Lamontville is going very well we don’t have to buy cabbage for at least two months and by then the new seedlings will have grown big enough to use. Mariannhill’s garden is not as big by far and so it produces less it also does not get full sun. I am hoping to put old car tyres down along the fence on the one side of the property and plant vegetables in those. The right hand side of the building gets full sun.
To put up chalk boards is really expensive so we have decided to paint black board paint onto the outside wall so the children can draw and write.
We held a fun day at Mariannhill with a jumble sale on the 5th of November I even asked the children at Cygnet Preparatory school to help pack prizes which was a great opportunity for them to do something toward children less fortunate than themselves. But unfortunately it was not supported as expected by both the Mariannhill Ecclesia and the surrounding community. I even organised for our brother Neville Blewett to come and do a magic show which was really enjoyed by the children there. I was trying to raise funds for stationary and equipment next year.
